I have around 16 years of experience and expertise in project and process management, monitoring & and evaluations, project design and implementation, program development for bilateral and multilateral funding for NGOs, strategic alliances; fund-raising, policy-level discussions, and research. My expertise lies in leading research and development projects for national and international agencies in rural broadband and regulatory issues, community networks, broadband policies, gender & and access, gender and internet governance, violence against women, open spectrum policies, and community development. I have closely worked with community networks to understand the challenges, and engagement of communities, and design specific learning methods/frameworks for barefoot women wireless engineers to sustain these models and further take to policy-level discourse.I was engaged in different capacities while working with community networks - a) research around access, gender and access, and community networks; b) engage in policy discourse at the national level, regional and global levels; c) monitoring & and assessment of community-based networks on the ground, and d) developing learning materials for community network operators. As an independent researcher and consultant, 1) I am Chair of the IEEE working group of ‘Internet Grades of Service in Rural Areas’ measuring the quality of services to be provided by ISPs; 2) I am a Research Advisor with local network provider – GeoMesh Informatics stepping in technical and social research and bringing sustainability; 3) Monitoring & Evaluation Officer with Spoken Tutorials Health & Nutrition project initiative of IIT Bombay bringing health, access & data. I am also imparting wireless training to community radio stations to establish community networks in their region.
