I was going to become an epidemiologist.My plan was to get a BS in Biology, and obtain a master's degree in epidemiology. But after an arduous course in organic chemistry, I realized that epidemiology was not the field for me. It seemed an appropriate course for me at the time, until I considered the enjoyment I had when I worked on a project surrounding academic success. What are the best indicators of academic achievement? Parental pressure? Fear of failure? Intrinsic motivation? Extrinsic motivation?And that was when I found my path: data analysis. I discovered a love for quantifying solutions to seemingly non-numerical problems. For translating unappetizing data into palatable information. For transforming this information into accessible and beautiful visualizations. And during this time, a fascination for people sparked—how they behave, decide, act. I combined my statistics captivation with my psychology fascination, and now I seek to understand the world through data. My specialty is learning new skills quickly. If there is anything I need to know that I don't, that won't last long. So far I have Python, SQL, R, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, time-series analysis, regression analysis, and regular expressions under my belt. And I'm continuing to grow this list as I study machine learning, APIs, and AWS.
