VT Communications was a part of VT Group plc. VT Communications was essentially the company formed from the privatisation of the BBC World Service transmitter sites. My role as one of the first Network Managers was to deliver the concept and integrate cutting edge broadcast technology with existing delivery architecture.

As a Control Room Engineer I formed part of an operational engineering shift to deliver and maintain broadcast transmission and distribution. I deputised as Senior Control Room Engineer when required. I was very pro-active in delivering first line support and technical resolutions. I also produced several successful broadcast installations.Whilst in this role I received the following training: BBC Audio TrainingBBC Data Communications TrainingBBC Satellite TrainingBBC Video TrainingBBC Technical Operations TrainingBBC Practical skills in electronicsMilestoneAs a part of the DRM consortium VT Communications entered DRM transmissions and put in place several DRM capable transmitters. A new content aggregator, transcoder and playout suite was required to merge continuity with international broadcasters DRM content. My role was to review suitalbe products and soulutions, plus install the broadcast playout equipment that was required. I also assessed the implementation of the new playout suite with existing delivery workflows. Upon successful installation, content was ingested from ABC Australia, Radio New Zealand International and NHK. All content was transcoded accordingly for transmission and merged with VT Communication continuity announcements. The complete DRM channel was made available to all VT Communications transmitter sites.
