Fall 2016: Introduction to Acting, Play Interpretation and Analysis

Teaching elementary school students in a summer camp environment in various theatre and drama skillsets. Taught high school conservatory students with theatre for social change techniques, and skills in devised theatre and ensemble building.

Grading responsibilities, communication with students, and liaising between professor and students.

Introduction to Acting focused on studio-based performance work around the acting styles of Stanislavski, Strasberg, Hägen, and Adler other acting practitioners.

Used community cultural development methodologies to partner with Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development, a service center for homeless youth between 18-26. Developed theatre and art projects to suit youth assets. Created partnership with Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture to create Youth Arts Councils to engage youth in civic practice and art-making.

Taught 3 sections of Devising Theatre to high school students. Autoethnographic performance techniques and performance of the self skills utilized.

Liberia

Taught 3 sections of English to upper school students. Led after-school speech team.

Samoa

• Planned for and taught daily Year 7 English lessons, which incorporated student-centered listening, speaking, reading and writing activities and required an application of learning objectives.
• Co-planned and co-taught Years 4-6 English lessons with Samoan counterparts.
• Implemented leveled reading groups in Years 1-8 to improve English literacy for all students.
• Organized school-wide term activities, including an English Day and Culture Day – both of which provided students with a creative outlet for their language skills.
• Led professional development workshops for teachers that focused on learner-centered methodology.
• Obtained and developed additional English instructional materials, including the creation of a school library and computer resource room.

Taught a full course load with one co-taught grade nine English class, two college preparatory grade nine English classes, one eleventh grade American Literature course, and one MCAS Preparatory course;Individualized instruction for students with a range of I.E.Ps, non-native English speakers and varied levels of comprehension;Organized Student/Faculty.
