Riya worked directly for me as a co-op student from January 2020 until August 2020 in Amtrak's Stations, Facilities, Properties and Accessibility Project Management Office and was a terrific asset to our department. Riya had three major projects with our group while she was here: she performed a constructability review on a $45M entrance renovation being designed for implementation at Penn Station, she created and maintained a cost estimate for improvements to a back of house space that connects Penn Station to the new Moynihan Train Hall in New York, and she took the lead on cost-loading schedules for all of our projects in the New York Penn Station Near Term Improvements Program. She also assisted with the day-to-day management of 7 projects as they advanced through various stages of design and construction. Not only did she complete all her assigned work, but she continually asked for stretch assignments and was always interested in learning. During one of our weekly staff meetings, she presented information on a course she had recently taken on Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. She also presented her work on the entrance renovation project referenced above to a group of her peers and several of our Vice Presidents.
