About Riya Mohan
Ever since I was a child, I have asked an endless amount of questions. Simply knowing something is not good enough and I strive to know more and understand each topic on a deeper level. As a lifelong learner, I intend to bring my strong initiative and unwavering sense of curiosity wherever I go. I’m a risk-taker who grows by seeking knowledge in many disparate disciplines. As a result, I have fostered a great love of interdisciplinary learning and have found my niche in genomics, gene editing, and emerging genetic technologies. In particular, I am interested in the field's resulting ethical and policy issues, particularly in the context of scientific and medical development. Within this field, I hope to identify and answer tough ethical issues regarding this emerging technology as well as bridge the gap between science and policy development. My studies aim to innovate to create a sustainable and equitable world by drawing from many disciplines, such as public policy, ethics, data science, cultural studies, philosophy, business, basic sciences, and more.When I am not focused on my work, I enjoy reading from all genres, trying out new cookie recipes, crocheting, or exploring whatever city I am in. Though there is no way of ever fully knowing the future, I am excited to make a difference with each step I take and enjoy the possibilities that life offers.
