My directorate was responsible for advising the government prior to the entry into any international obligation and ensuring the compliance of Oman's international commitments with domestic law prior to the ratification of any treaty. We worked very closely with the Foreign Ministry and other government entities in negotiating international agreements. We also assisted in dealing with disputes arising out of Oman's international obligations and contributed to the preparation of periodic reports requested by international organisations.I was also a legal advisor and I support the Ministry of Legal Affairs in providing advice to other government entities in regard to government contracts, procurement, dispute settlement, and constitutional law matters.

I was hired as an independent consultant by the National Centre for Statistics and Information to draft the national data governance framework—A legal instrument that the NCSI is responsible for creating in pursuance of article 5 of the Statistics and Information Law.

I was seconded to serve as legal advisor to the University of Oman Project Office between 2018 and 2020. I was responsible for advising the office on issues relating to procurement, contracts, and the legal frameworks for cooperating with local and international partners.

My directorate was responsible for advising the government prior to the entry into any international obligation and ensuring the compliance of Oman's international commitments with domestic law prior to the ratification of any treaty.I was responsible for overseeing the work of approximately 50 lawyers in the area of public international law.

My primary responsibilities included advising the government on international treaties and government contracts with value exceeding OMR 500,000 (~ USD 1,300,000). I also prepared legal opinions for other governmental entities relating to the interpretation of law and disputes arising out of government contracts.I worked closely with numerous governmental entities including the Supreme Council For Planning, the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm, Peaceful Nuclear Technology Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Sultan Qaboos University, and the University of Oman Project Office.I was a member of numerous administrative committees at the Ministry of Legal Affairs such as the committee for following up the Activities of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, the legal staff training committee, the ministry website web content committee, and the ministry digital transformation committee. I was also responsible for supervising the training of new lawyers in the Contracts and Treaties Directorate.

I was seconded to the ITA for a period of two months to develop an action plan for improving the performance of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman in the area of open data. The project also involved developing two legal instruments, a manual for using open data, and a revamp of the official open data page on Oman.om. I also conducted multiple one-on-one sessions with several government entities to provide advice on how to improve their open data efforts.

I wrote a column for Muscat Daily for on a fortnightly basis for almost ten years. My column covered information technology law and intellectual property. I wrote on subjects such as data protection law, digital privacy, internet censorship, internet governance, technological protection measures, spam regulation, and the regulation of voice over IP services.

As a subcontractor for GBM, I served as an open data policy consultant for a GCC country. I helped develop the legal framework for operating the national open data portal, the intellectual property licensing policy, and executed capacity building sessions.
