I conducted public policy research with a particular focus on Child Nutrition Policy. I worked at a federal and state level, analyzing various policies and making recommendations to the Texas Hunger Initiative for government relations activities. As part of the Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships team at THI, I assisted with any policy requests that our partners may have around Child Nutrition Programs. As an undergraduate student, I also helped organize student advocacy around hunger issues on the Baylor University Campus.

As a Youth Ambassador, I focused on student engagement and public policy around Child Nutrition Programs. The primary goal of student engagement was to increase hunger awareness on the Baylor Campus, while getting students to provide their informed support (through canned food donations, letter writing, general advocacy). During my time as a YA, I spoke to over 1000 Baylor Students and partnered with over 25 Student Organizations around Child Hunger. I helped prepare a congressional testimony for the House Education and Workforce Committee around Child Nutrition, which was testified before Congress by THI's Director of Research. I organized an Advocacy Day in the Texas State Capitol with THI interns to discuss legislation surrounding School Breakfast and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program by promoting THI's nonpartisan research perspective.
