I’m a ‘Structural Engineer’ and I call myself an artist, who can use brain power and strength of materials to design structures. My project portfolio includes a wide variety of projects right from industrial shed, commercial complex, to multi-story residential tower.I started my career as a site engineer after graduating in Civil Engineering from University of Mumbai. I was always a curious person. During my early days I used to wonder, "How can tall buildings stand? How are they designed?" I always wanted to do that. I transitioned my career from site engineer to structural engineering.Having a strong basic knowledge about structures, helped me get hired for the structural designer role. But very soon I realized that I have to learn a lot to become successful in this field. This led me to a never ending commitment to life-long learning. I developed new software skills and brushed up the core concepts and brought it to practical use.Working for a smaller setup means I have to wear many different hats in different situations. Doing multiple roles actually helped me to become a better professional more than anything else. From drafting in AutoCAD helping technicians keeping the project on schedule, to analyzing and designing using advanced software tools, finding alternate solutions and optimizing the design. Leading and managing a team of engineers and CAD technicians, coordinating with reputed architects and well-known clients, regular site reviews, attending meetings and seminars, preparing reports and tender documents are some of the things I do at work.In addition to design work, I am constantly working on my personality development, communication skills and business awareness. Reading habits and online courses helps me upskill with the technology. Reading structural engineering blogs helps me to keep up with the latest trends in the AEC industry.With a passion for computational analysis and working in a BIM workflow, I always like to explore the possibilities, where the future of the construction industry is heading.
