Primary responsibility: Maximise furnace campaigns through diligent rebuilds and safe operation.Responsible for key operational activities over five electric furnaces.Highlights:* Completed refractory evaluation test work and change management, ensuring adequate refractory quality and enabling significant cost optimisation. * Key decision-maker during construction management of large EPCM projects (+R50m Furnace rebuilds), including management of a team of six metallurgists. * Responsible for refractory and consumable management, including material selection and procurement activities.* Driven in-house implementation of furnace automation projects, focused on improved matte level management.* Compiled major capital applications (+R100m), scopes of work, method statements and quality control plans. * Acted in 2.6.2 Unit Manager position when required and managed one direct report.

Responsibilities included continuous process monitoring, problem solving, process optimisation, cost optimisation and innovation projects over five electric furnaces and their associated utilities. Highlights:* Revision of all critical procedures and development of operational documents to standardise technical specifications.* Implementation of quality control measures and procurement activities required during large EPCM projects. * Successful minor capital project executed to refurbish water cooling circuit, from problem identification to final execution - lead to monthly water and chemical consumption improvement. * Updating and generating drawings to better define process. Including technical support with design drawings for all disciplines, redlining, marking in the field and testing of circuits.* In-house improvement of Excel-based shift logsheets, development of new logsheets and ultimately concatenating data into a weekly technical performance report to monitor and track business unit and key performance indicators (KPIs), work which has since progressed to enable MES implementation and further refinement.

Completed Lonmin's graduate development program.Highlights:* Gained exposure during commissioning of a higher-capacity blending plant.* Acted in Furnace Metallurgist position from Jun 2016 - Aug 2016.* Plant-scale techno-economic evaluation of different taphole channel refractories performed. Implemented the use of new, cost-effective refractories, realising an annual saving while complying with safety standards.* Compiled a draft induction report, which is hence-forth continuously updated by new graduates to provide accurate training material.* Contractor assistance to perform plant trails of new equipment.
