Founder / Co-Founder / Member, Film Producer
CurrentLet me tell you a story about a small idea that grew into a respected organization it is today. It all started on a train ride to film school when I had an epiphany about an online platform to showcase works of aspiring filmmakers. That's how the Filmforum - Non Stop Internet Film Festival was born. It was ahead of its time, back then in 2000.We created a space for young creators to showcase their work and engage in discussions. We also published extensive learning materials about the craft of filmmaking, which helped aspiring artists hone their skills. Our website gained traction and quickly became popular among independent filmmakers in Poland. The festival's success led to its TV version with a big nationwide network: TVN. In 2001, we even had a big-time award ceremony that was aired live. We also produced a movie. We discovered some incredibly talented young comedians with a funny idea. We helped them develop the script, and we all felt in love with it, including some then-well-known actors who agreed to be part of the project. But as film school students, we were a bit out of our depth. Our tiny budget (and experience) was no match for the scale of the project. In fact, we only managed to record about half of the script - don't laugh! But with some help from talented animators and a few years in post-production, we finally completed it. Unfortunately, it wasn't a big hit, but hey, at least we gave it our all!As I became more committed to my professional life, I handed over the management of Filmforum to my talented friends. Since 2002, they have taken the organization to new heights, transforming it into a highly successful network of independent film festivals in Poland and eventually an international organization - The Filmforum Group.I'm proud to have been part of Filmforum's humble beginnings and to see how it has grown into a driving force in the film industry. It's a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and a little bit of luck.
Series Development Producer - Original Production
As a member of the HBO Poland team, my role involved scouting for and identifying original content that would resonate with our audience. This included holding meetings with writers, producers, agents, and directors to evaluate pitches and proposals. In addition to identifying new content, I also conducted thorough analysis and development of existing literary and production material to determine its potential for adaptation. This involved creating and maintaining an agenda for original programming development, keeping track of competitive projects at other networks, and conducting meticulous analysis of production budgets, dailies, and other production material.
Guest Lecturer
I have been invited to deliver a series of lectures for students who have already completed their higher education - on the topic of film financing and production systems in Europe and worldwide as part of the postgraduate Studies for Film and Television Producers organized by the Education Center of Ryszard Lazarski in cooperation with the Warsaw Film School of Bogusław Linda and Maciej Slesicki. The lectures were an incredibly refreshing and inspiring experience. It was truly wonderful to meet a group of postgraduate students who were so passionate about the subject matter. I enjoyed the lectures very much.
Head Of Production, Film Producer, Production Manager
At SPI International, my primary role was to scout, develop and secure financing for our film projects, either through equity or public support. This involved complex budgeting, applying for public funds and incentives, and comprehensive reporting. We successfully completed several international co-productions and local cinematic productions, most notably Ken Loach's "It's a Free World...," which won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2007 Venice Film Festival.
Head Of Production For Tvn Style, Film Producer, Production Manager
As the Channel Production Manager, I spearheaded the establishment of TVN Style from the ground up. In this capacity, I oversaw the end-to-end production of all TV shows for the channel, ensuring the delivery of about 50 hours of premiere content monthly.Managing a team of over 100 production staff, I handled their payroll and other administrative tasks while also supervising the daily studio production operations. Additionally, I was responsible for the channel's production budget management and reporting, ensuring financial discipline and transparency at all times.A significant milestone in my tenure was leading the channel's transition to a digital production pipeline and digital cameras, a first-of-its-kind feat in Poland. Working closely with the IT and technical crew, camera operators, editors, and broadcast engineers, we revolutionized the production process by phasing out magnetic tapes.
