Lead backend developer of ecommerce automation service rewrite. Started from scratch to manage inventory and orders across hundreds of suppliers and multiple sales channels. Adopted microservice approach to ensure system is flexible enough to accommodate various supplier data formats, marketplaces, and shopping carts. Ensured scalability by deploying each service in one or many Docker containers which could be placed in local data center or on AWS. Used Atlassian products such as Confluence and JIRA to create requirement documents and track progress in the form of user stories.Accomplishments● Designed and developed core REST APIs for inventory and order management.● Designed and developed Recipe application that executes asynchronous integration actions via schedules or completion of other integration actions.● Wrote most of the backend code for the Shopify featured app Inventory Import and Sync by ChannelApe.● Wrote inventory management app for eBay integrating with their Trading SOAP APIs and new REST Sell APIs.● Wrote inventory management app for BigCommerce integrating with their V3 REST APIs.● Integrated with Chargify billing platform to disable inactive subscriptions and record usage based activities.● Created service which imports flat files into ChannelApe as inventory collections which can be pushed to various sales channels.● Created mirror of one-off customer services running on local datacenter in AWS to prevent outages. Trained development team to deploy to AWS and local datacenter through Bamboo.● Added automated production alerting via Slack room around database issues, errors found in logs, and service outages.● Created rotational production support role by outlining on-call duties, sending automated production alerts to Slack room, and defining best practices for organizing issues on JIRA board.● Started weekly Code Dojo to practice TDD in a round-robin fashion while discussing best practices.

Created REST and worker services based on a microservice architecture using Java 8 and Spring Boot. REST services were used for synchronous communication while worker services were used for asynchronous by picking messages from queues. Took advantage of Amazon AWS services to provide queues (SNS/SQS), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB), MySQL Databases (RDS), logging (CloudWatch), and media storage (S3) for Otreva clients with differing needs.Accomplishments● Created company wide best practices for Java and JavaScript development.● Worked on REST Server and MySQL database for PaperShop mobile app. Created new tables accessed via Hibernate ORM on the Java REST server. Also modified tables and stored procedures used by existing web app for use within mobile app.● Created specifications for rewrite of ChannelApe inventory management platform to make the system more dependable, modifiable, and scalable. Started implementing specifications within Agile sprints before transitioning to full-time ChannelApe employee.

Started as UI developer creating responsive external facing web pages for a new advice offering that was optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop using CSS3 media queries. Created Jersey REST services used to interface with UI using JSON.Later created an internal web page used to generate a PDF in JSF. Worked with an external vendor to create the PDF by defining a schema and passing in the correct XML.Finally transitioned to a methodology / mid­tier developer role working on creating a portfolio rebalancing engine for a new advice service.
