My current job requires the ability to consistently work independently and effectively around emergent situations in a multi-faceted stressful environment. My position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. I am required to maintain a professional respectful attitude in a fast-paced department as we interact with staff and the public frequently. During my time here I have become proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft word, Outlook, Sharepoint, TigerConnect(paging software), and Cerner(electronic health record system). I am very familiar with HIPAA standards, telefax systems, hand held radios, and basic office equipment such as printers, binding machines, laminators, and postage machines. I currently provide regular administrative assistance to many other departments of the hospital.

  The main functions of my current position include providing administrative assistance to many of the other departments of the hospital which involves providing daily scheduling sheets to medical staff, creating/ revising manuals, reports, and documents. I act as the switch board operator for our main hospital here in Sitka. My department also functions as first point of contact for many other smaller clinics in the southeast region and are responsible for paging the appropriate medical staff in emergent situations. I consistently announce hospital codes (code blue, code red, etc.) using the overhead intercom system while paging all necessary medical staff using paging/ tiger connect software. Following code incidents I submit reports of the event to management of the department where the event occurred. After normal business hours I perform back-up duties such as patient access (admitting/ discharging/ registration) and provide short-term housing to medivac patients (checking in/out guests, issuing keycards, providing necessary paperwork). My other miscellaneous duties include regularly providing orientation/ training for new employees. Sorting mail. Keeping the employee directory up to date. Assigning pagers and create weekly conference room schedules.
