I have just finished my Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree in International Humanitarian Action. I had the opportunity to study at the University of Malta, University College Dublin (UCD), and Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). In UCD, my host university, putting people at the center of humanitarian action has been greatly emphasized and has formed part of my perspective. In RUB, lectures merged humanitarian policy and practice. In my time in Malta, I also had the opportunity to volunteer for a short period of time with Hal Far Outreach and Jesuit Refugee Service - Malta.i have so worked as a Foreign Affairs Research Specialist at the Foreign Service Institute’s Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies for five years. I was under the Non-Traditional Security Section, and my research focused on gender mainstreaming/gender issues, disaster risk reduction, peacekeeping, human rights, protection of civilians, terrorism, and international humanitarian law. I have published several research papers and commentaries on non-traditional security issues that have a big impact on Philippine foreign policy. I was also part of the Institute's Gender and Development Technical Working Group and I have been trained as a trainer on gender sensitivity.I was also privileged to be a part of 15 JICA Young Leaders sent to Japan’s Tohoku Region for the KCCP on Regional Revitalization in Disaster Prone Areas last July 21 – August 8, 2016.
