Originally self-taught, I eventually realized computers would detect my human accent if I didn't put in some real effort. I put my career on hold from 2007 through 2015 to pursue an undergraduate degree, followed by a Master's in Computer Science. My focus was on Human-Computer Interaction, particularly with respect to the rapid development of tools for collaboration using large surface displays.After Carleton I worked in mobile financial services, helping a company called Telepin build systems that enable transactions for millions of people in emerging economies. While there I grew to appreciate the tension between the natural conservatism of data privacy and the evolutionary potential of digital transformation.I am currently looking for a new challenge, ideally in a DevOps culture that embraces remote work and cloud technologies.
