As a Liaison to the AIAS Board, Ricardo serves as a direct bridge between the AIA National Board and the AIAS. By attending quarterly and special board meetings, and by giving regular reports about AIA on goings. He helps keep AIAS members updated and represents the AIA when necessary. Similarly, Ricardo also speaks up for the AIAS and its initiatives to the AIA Board and Strategic Council, and will keep them abreast of activities and programs. As always, our collateral liaisons are often mentors to AIAS Boardmembers both as young designers and as future activists and leaders.

The vice-chair of the Emerging Architects Committee is a volunteer position, and has the responsibility of assisting the chair in coordinating the regularly-occurring programs and events of the committee. Spearheaded committee yearly vision and plans. Co-led strategic planning sessions and guided overall mission. Manage subcommittees between in order to ensure progress with action items; Maintain communications with the local Emerging Architects by advocating committee events.

The Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program is a year-long program of monthly sessions which prepared young leaders for future leadership and executive roles. The curriculum focuses on core skills such as: business development, firm management, public speaking, law, community service, industry trends, and the future of the practice. Led a session focused expanding the role of Architects as leaders that spearhead empowerment through design.

Project Manager on international design/build IDIQ contracts. Reported directly to Joint-Venture stake holders on international property improvement projects. Developed fee proposals, negotiated with clients, supported V/E efforts, and advised owners on execution strategies. Monitored cross-discipline project metrics, established task priorities and developed performance reports. Coordinated travel plans & security details. Provided general oversight for document control. Led programs to analyze project profitability, establish core values & BIM practices. Supervised work & staffing of ten employees. Clients served: NAVFAC, Army Corps of Engineers, US Department of State, and VA Medical Centers. Supported Construction Administration duties for the 2,000-key Gaylord National Harbor Hotel and Convention Center. Base building member for the renovation of George Washington University’s Smith Arena. Traveled weekly to other offices to support deadlines. Involved in the design of commercial interiors, hospitality design, base building and a financial district urban master plan in Malaysia.
