I have an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science and honours and masters degrees in Economics from Stellenbosch University. My areas of interest include game theory, experimental and behavioural economics, development economics, and economics of education. Both my honours and masters research assignments were in the economics of education field.In 2020 I started my PhD studies in economics of education under the supervision of Professor Servaas van der Berg and Dr Gabrielle Wills. Throughout my PhD studies I have done research work for the ReSEP group at Stellenbosch University, specialising in School-Based Assessment, repetition and dropout, and the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in South Africa.Concurrent to (or in-between) my studies, I have worked as a teacher, boarding house assistant, and chess coach at two South African high schools, and also lectured and tutored at Stellenbosch University. I enjoy travel and languages, and I combine this with chess, having represented South Africa at a number of international events. I am also a Partnered Twitch streamer under the channel HashtagChess, and I was part of Chess.com's writing team for the 2023 FIDE World Championship and FIDE World Cup event coverage.
