I have handled lawsuits arising out of the professional liability , maritime , and construction areas for over twenty- five years. In recent years, I have also worked on cyber claims, as the insurers with whom I work enter this market. In my insurance practice, I do both defense and coverage work. I am Board Certified in Business and Consumer Law by the Texas State Bar, and have had this certification for 15 years. This is the certification that includes expertise in insurance law. Achieving this certification required peer and judicial review, handling 25 insurance and business disputes as lead counsel, and trying 7 cases to verdict as lead counsel, in addition to passing the exam.I also act as "outside counsel"​ for companies that need legal work , but which are too small to have full- time inside counsel. I try to handle each case or assignment in the most cost-effective method approved by the client. I have in-house experience as the last general counsel of a major offshore support company, prior to its aquisition by a competitor. This experience was helpful in teaching me that the client's idea of a good result is generally a problem that is solved or a case that is closed.I am licensed in all Texas State and Federal Courts.I belong to the Maritime Law Association of the United States, CLM, The Defense Research Institute, the Insurance and Construction sections of the Texas Bar, and the College of the State Bar of Texas.
