RKALC is a software meant to be a companion for structural engineers during their daily routine, akin to a programmable calculator. It’s loaded with numerous solutions all accumulated over the years, like those ‘golden days’ reference books, similar to Reynolds Handbook or the Steel Designer’s Manual, presented in a more efficient and modern way! The RKALC project targets senior and principal engineers who need to verify the work of others. It is also for entry-level individuals who have just started their careers and are eager to keep up with the pressure without needing to wait for supervision. It allows engineers to verify and check their own work produced by other methods, namely, sophisticated, and trendy software packages that could be misused, like driving a Ferrari the very next day of obtaining a license. RKALC aims to be reliable and trustworthy, clear, and transparent. We have put the Australian Standard in the heart of the RKALC code, as well as the local construction and design “dialects”, while keeping an eye on the international standards (in particular, Eurocode and ACI) to compare the outcomes and make more sense of them.
