I have been working with Code Central for a year now and I have really grown, along with the company. I teach one to three students each hour, giving them personalized attention through the proprietary curriculum as well as my own experience. College Admissions Mentor: Tell Your StoryWhether you have a game plan or an escape plan, I’m here to help you run it. It’s not just about getting to a destination, but who you’re going to be when you get there. And you will change in unexpected ways on the journey.The college admissions journey is a marathon, not a sprint. That is why I like to get started in the summer. Just having the liberty to toss around daydreams can turn into big things. You can also test if your more serious aspirations can really see the light of day.Whether you are trying to portray yourself as a “pointy” applicant with a specific, highly developed persona or all “round,” your application needs to present you as a cohesive whole. Although numbers play a part, motives and outlooks are really much more important. This does not just come down to the essay, which of course is important. There are a whole host of ways to tailor your recommendations and activity sheet (in lieu of the resume) to your application.Although I come from a STEM background, what I will help you do is understand your life story and how you want it to “end” (college at least). Creating these narratives really takes all aspects of the application and puts them to work. That is the unique service I can offer you as your college admissions mentor.

I have worked at a number of different tutoring centers, as listed, which has given me the opportunity to practice a variety of teaching styles. At Kumon, I used a practice-makes-perfect approach in a group setting. At the Tutoring Club, I tutored one-on-one and developed my visual techniques for teaching upper level math. At The Tutoring Center, I used a rotation technique where we switched tutors and subjects during the hour to keep students engaged. These experiences led me to form my own tutoring and college admissions company, Evergreen Mentors.

I built a saltwater aquarium from scratch with my friend Joshua Hanzman. We constructed a sump from scratch, and worked out the fluid dynamics using chemical engineering techniques for the plumbing. Along the way we developed an all natural filtration system using only macro algae and a protein skimmer. Our revenue stream came from selling coral, but we also developed a full ecosystem so that we virtually never had water changes. The experience taught me a lot about systems thinking. In particular, the applications of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics to ecological systems using "niche" thinking. I am expanding my horizons with a Marine Biology course at Brookdale.

We used Nitrogen Vacancy Centers in diamond to attempt and achieve the Technological Singularity (in the long run). Probing nanokelvin temperature gradients in individual cells using magnetic fields was our first project. Then we used black diamonds that were extremely densely studded with NV centers to attempt high levels of quantum entanglement. After I left the lab this research led to creation of microwave powered quantum heat engines that used coherence to break the bounds of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Though, yet, a strongly formulated set of Quantum Thermodynamics has been yet to be formulated. Many thanks to Prof Mikhail Lukin and graduate students Peter Maurer and Georg Kucsko.

I spent a summer teaching at Taktse International School. Apart from classroom teaching in STEM subjects, I mentored the juniors for college admissions, focusing on "passion projects" where students would do in-depth explorations of their interests. In particular, we used Lego Mindstorm kits to build stair-climbing robots and explored C programming.

I got involved with ham radio during my time as a boy scout in high school. The summer before college I earned my general class license (KC2UQC). After arriving at Harvard I got involved with W1AF and other electronics activities (Optical SETI and teaching assistant). I served as treasurer my freshman year and vice president my sophomore year.Some of our highlights were building log periodic antennas for Field Day and playing with digital modes (PSK31, RTTY). We also ran emergency communications annually for the Boston Multiple Sclerosis Walk.

Taught hands on graduate level digital and analog electrical engineering.Ran office hours for problem sets every week.Conducted 7 hours of lab sessions weekly.Received a 4.6/5 rating from my students.Worked with Prof Thomas Hayes, one of the best teachers I've ever encountered

I ran long distance all 3 seasons for all 4 years of high school. I was varsity all four years, most improved my junior year, and captain and MVP my senior year.Running really kept me grounded during high school, and I attribute all my academic success to it. It also provided me with lots of friends even when I moved in the middle of high school.
