Typically, I help stand up Data Lakes, Warehouses, and Marts, to enable clients to better understand their own business by giving them the tools to discover the information they already have, but do not know how to access.Hylaine is a tool-agnostic firm; we don't push a specific language, database, programming suite, or environmental solution. We first focus on what a client HAS, what their pain points are, and only then recommend what best fits their particular needs.As such, I have broad exposure to various languages, databases, ETL tools, project management tools and methodologies, and have an uncanny ability to pick up new skills and tools. If it's similar to what I have listed, I probably either have already had exposure to it or can become functionally literate with it within a matter of days or weeks.

As a Senior ETL Devleoper, I designed and led development for several Business Analytics projects. We integrated data from disparate sources into a single Data Warehouse, and propagated to multiple data marts, used in Sales, Financial, Shipping, and Inventory reporting and analysis.Data sources range from JD Edwards, Oracle, flat files, Excel spreadsheets, and proprietary Point-of-Sale systems. Data is ingested, cleansed, categorized, standardized, and normalized using a combination of DataStage, SQL, Stored Procedures, and shell scripts.Data is further analyzed using Python and SQL to validate and investigate, various requests on an ad-hoc basis.I am spearheading a project to create a Data Lake using HIVE on an existing, underutilized Hadoop data cluster.

By reducing stored log capacity in DataStage, this resulted in immediate performance improvements.As a Splunk Power User, I developed customized reports, error detection and automated notification. I also enhanced tools to perform perform performance monitoring and trend analysis, and used those to identify Jobs who's performance was trending downward. By doing so, we were able to modify those jobs to improve performance before the client failed to meet their Service Level Agreements.
