Trump announced the recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) and the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).As a multilingual Role Model, I am honored in contributing to America’s future by inspiring students through academic performance and achievement. The connections made and periodic follow-up with students and academia in our communities is extremely rewarding and proves a tremendous force for collaboration. In 2014, I stepped in as the Youth Conference Director coordinating Youth Conferences held at Princeton University in New Jersey, Columbia University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, and St. Mary's University in Texas. Working with Mayor Julián Castro's office during 2014, the city of San Antonio proclaimed May 16, 2014, as "HISPA Youth Conference Day." The honorable Julián Castro was subsequently sworn in as the 16th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on July 28, 2014.I have also had the opportunity to establish diversity and inclusion efforts and work with upstart Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Professional Organizations, and academic and alumni networks allowing me to share, inspire and help transform the lives of others through the HISPA Role Model Program and Youth Conferences. Prospanica (formerly NSHMBA) is the nation’s most prestigious organization dedicated to building and advancing leadership and professional achievement through diversity of thought, expert collaboration, and community engagement to create and develop Hispanic leaders. Prospanica has over 47 chapters serving more than 30,000 members.I joined Prospanica in 2009 and was offered the opportunity to join the Board of Directors in NJ in 2011. The NJ chapter was only formed 5 years prior. I jumped at the chance to help make a difference. As VP of Membership, supported by my peers, I developed and executed against a plan earning NJ, Chapter of the Year status. I managed changes in mid-year criteria to finish the year on top, and earning New Jersey the coveted Chapter of the Year award in 2011. The NJ Board was honored at the 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 National Conferences achieving Chapter of Year status. During my years of Board service at Prospanica, I've paid it forward by participating in Junior Achievement initiatives, led and coordinated events with the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Rutgers University, Wyndham, Prudential, Johnson & Johnson, various professional development and career management workshops, etc., and assisted corporations by pre-screening talent for companies looking to diversify their workforce via diversity and inclusion initiatives. The NJ chapter experienced a tremendous 2012 - 2016 and we are not stopping there. I am rejoining forces with current Officers to help elevate Prospanica nationally to even higher levels in 2017 and 2018.

Lulac

I joined LULAC to help align local council operations to National Office’s primary focus on national policy and legislative advocacy, membership development, program development, and resource development. When the previous President was transferred out of state, although I was a newer LULAC member, I stepped up and was nominated to lead and manage the states councils. As State Director, I actively engaged elected officials, businesses and community volunteers to turn New Jersey’s councils into thriving organizations. My continuous networking with local and national government representatives and the support of LULAC’s 1,000+ councils serving more than 135,000 members allowed us to improve opportunities for residents and provide several scholarships through LNESC, and the GE Foundation. We also competed for the Ford Driving Dreams through Education Grant to implement unique and innovative education programs to better serve our communities. As a result of continued ability to provide and implement innovative ideas, I meet with Chiefs of Staff and members of the Senate, House of Representatives, and the White House to support LULAC’s programs in civic engagement, economic empowerment, education, health, housing, immigration, public service or technology.
