About Ruangrawee Kitichotkul
I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University. My research interests include computational imaging, statistical signal processing, and machine learning. I have worked with different imaging modalities — from single-photon imaging to particle beam microscopy to MRI — and various computational imaging methodologies — from classical estimation and regularization to plug-and-play priors to deep learning. I made key contributions to four projects as a first-year PhD student, two of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals.homepage: https://rkitichotkul.github.io/

Research Intern
Phd Student
Working on computational imaging research under supervision of Prof. Vivek Goyal.- Performed a statistical analysis of the single-photon LIDAR and discovered how detection times aid reflectivity estimation.- Developed and implemented plug-and-play methods for quantitative particle beam microscopy. The mentioned projects have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Many more will follow.
Teaching Assistant
Teaching assistant for the course "Probability, Statistics, and Data Science for Engineers" at Boston University.- Delivered a lecture on covariance and correlation.- Led discussion sections, assisted professors in lectures, and graded exams.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
Developed computational methods for MRI at Stanford Computational Imaging Lab under guidance of Prof. Christopher Metzler and Prof. Gordon Wetzstein.- Combined Stein’s unbiased risk estimate (SURE) with approximate message passing to estimate per-pixel mean squared error of compressive sensing reconstructions without requiring ground truth images. This work led to a publication at ICASSP 2021.- Investigated the use of SURE to improve compressive sensing reconstructions by self-supervision.- Applied D-VDAMP to real-world MRI measurements.
Data Science Intern
- Designed, prototyped, and tested an automatic content generation system for writing travel guidesbased on transformers for autoregressive language modeling. - Prepared the data and trained the models used in the system. - Wrote reports to communicate the project within the organization.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
Worked in the Spakowitz Research Group.- Investigated the effect of topological constraints on bacterial DNA using Monte Carlo simulation.- Developed Python tools for analyzing statistical properties of polymers from simulations in Fortran.
