Design Manager
Current• Supervising mechanical design team; checking drawings for accuracy, use of proper standards and complying with engineering specifications• Planning project deliverables; decomposing activities and delegating tasks based on individual team member skills and promoting cross training to develop team competencies where needed• Initiating process improvement projects to quicken product development utilizing SolidWorks where AutoCAD was traditionally used to produce prototype designs and fabrication drawings• Coordinating with engineering manager (owner) to review and approve product design changes for project risk impacts (cost/schedule) and communicating changes with team• Procuring quotations for equipment fabrication, evaluating for accuracy, negotiating for delivery timelines and initiating purchase orders• Preparing general arrangement drawings of biomass energy plants in coordination with internal & customer engineers and project managers• Leading recruitment activities; generated postings, conducted interviews and selected candidates.• Analyzing, recommending and purchasing technology resource needs (computers and software licenses)
