The Cross-disciplinary Integration of Design Automation Research (CIDAR) group at Boston University develop computational and experimental tools for synthetic biology. As a graduate student in the CIDAR Lab I work on Microfluidic design automation, creating a rich environment for designing Microfluidic systems. This project's aim is the proliferation of Low Cost Microfluidic Platforms as Design-Test-Verification Platforms for Synthetic Biology. The success of this project would have a direct impact on the transforming the research landscape of Synthetic Biology. By bringing the hardware within the reach of research labs which don't have the resources for the traditional research equipment.

The team was awarded the "Design Excellence Award" for their work on Vulcan.

As a mentor for the iGEM Hardware team, my responsibilities include overseeing the development of the tool called Neptune providing the undergraduate students with pointers on how to use to best utilize technology stacks and managing the project.

The Ultrafast Optics lab explores femtosecond pulse generation techniques (1 femtosecond = 10-15 seconds) to advance photonic technologies that manipulate and transmit light efficiently. Compact fiber lasers and integrated microphotonic systems are pursued for applications in communications, biomedical diagnostics and treatment, frequency metrology, environmental sensing and spectroscopy.During my rotation in the lab I worked with construction and characterization of compact fiber lasers used for Ultrafast Pulse generation.

Team Indus is the only Indian competitor in the Google Lunar X-Prize competition. Since the avionics group only consisted of 5 people, our tasks were not limited to one subsystem/component but were spread over the all the avionics systems. My designs in particular were those connected to the design of the Telemetry, Telecommand, associated Flight Software and the overall data system. Other areas where I worked were related to the embedded realization of the onboard computer and the Communication subsystem - onboard computer interface.

The project didn't get funded. My Social Purpose is a Social Network aimed at promoting the "good" in people. The social network aimed at using its unique features allowing people to come together and change the world around them.I lead the Tech/Development of My Social Purpose, Since our development team consists of 3developers my responsibilities include that of a System Architect, Teamwork, IntegrationSupervisor, Training, Research and Product Development. In addition to this - our small teamcollaborates in solving issues in all aspects of the startup.

As an intern my work focused on 3D Computer Vision This including dynamic mesh generation and tracking motion. This was part of my work in trying to implement a Kinect powered variant of Imaginate's main product.

As a Junior Software Developer in the Developer Platform and Evangelism Group in Dubai, over this period I was involved with the development of various applications for Microsoft’s Partners in the region using the Windows Phone 7.5, Windows 8 and Windows Azure Platforms along with conducting technical training sessions/workshops for students in the UAE. I conducted sessions at University of Sharjah , American University of Sharjah and at the University of Wollongong in Dubai, where the students were trained both in the entire Software development process along with the Microsoft Technologies and the Windows Phone 7.5 Platforms

‘Geeks’ was a Mobile App development startup which me and my friend started in our sophomore year. Geeks was an exhilarating experience, over the years we developed some independent projects , Applications for Radio Stations in Dubai and Bahrain, and for larger clients like Dubai Bank. As a part of Geeks, I developed on some of the popular mobile platforms (WP7.5, iOS, Android). This not only required me to learn to develop in all the platforms, but also learn various technologies and languages. Being one of the founding members, the experience in both software engineering and also in business management was brand new. Over the 2 years we built apps that went viral ,worked with clients from various sectors, Investors, startup consultancies and CEO’s and technical heads of various organizations, while most of the experiences were exhilarating they were also hard lessons in how to conduct our own team, the difficulty of identification and training of development teams, figuring out the industry by jumping in head first and most importantly the dynamics which go on with every team and how the scenarios changed drastically under pressure.

As an intern in the Systems team, I was assigned on a LED street lighting project over the 2 months. It was over this period that I got my first experience in Electronics and Microcontrollers. Armed with only beginner courses in electronics, I spent most of the internship learning power electronics, analog electronics, microcontroller programming. Overall the experience armed me with knowledge and experience that was invaluable in my future electronics courses.
