Throughout my career, I've embraced leadership as the art of influencing and aligning individuals that are hungry, humble, and smart to achieve outsized results. I have consistently demonstrated these qualities providing strategic and operational insights that drive successful company performance, even during cyclical market corrections.At HistoryMaker Homes, I played a pivotal role in its growth and market expansion, growing the company according to Builder 100 from number 74 (58 private) in 2013 to number 57 (38 private) in 2023. HistoryMaker Homes, founded in 1949, expanded beyond DFW in 2016 into the Houston market and then further into the San Antonio market in 2022.My journey began at J.W. Bateson, a general contractor and subsidiary of Centex. Over ten years, I built several hospitals, a prison, apartments, and other special projects advancing to project manager at the age of 28, then later transitioned to Centex Homes, an affiliate, where I found my true passion in real estate and homebuilding. Over the following twelve-years, I excelled in operations, land acquisition & development, and as Division President, with full P&L responsibilities. In 2009, I joined CoastOak Group, a private equity real estate development company, as Sr. VP of Operations. After four years, I returned to homebuilding with HistoryMaker Homes in 2013, becoming its first non-family member President in 2017, serving until my retirement at the end of 2023.My career is a journey of progressive successes, rooted in self-investment and personal development. I've completed programs such as the Dale Carnegie Course, the Facilitative Leadership program by Interaction Associates, the Centex Management Development Program, and Harvard’s Program on Negotiation. I was a member of Vistage, the world’s largest CEO coaching and peer advisory organization for six years. While at HistoryMaker Homes, I played a key role in developing and facilitating a successful Leadership Development Program.Values are more than words on a wall, they are how we show up each day. Following a Family Legacy Workshop in 2022, our family established generational values that include Joy, Integrity, Faith, Family, Service (we call it JIFFS for short). In the next season, I am committed to giving back.
