Ryan Lanyon has been working in urban transportation for 20 years in the areas of policy development, demand management, public realm management, mobility, and senior-level public administration. He is the Chair of the AV Working Group for Transportation Services at the City of Toronto. He also serves as the Manager of the City's street furniture program, a public-private partnership with Astral Out-of-Home worth almost $1 billion to install and maintain 25,000 transit shelters, litter bins, benches and other elements. During his career, Ryan has at times been known as the "bike guy" and "that carpool guy", and has been a visible champion and thought leader for sustainable modes of transportation, innovation, as well as new ways of delivering public services. He has also been working with U.S. and Canadian organizations to help Toronto and other major cities begin to consider how to address the potential changes to mobility patterns, land use, and infrastructure needs resulting from driverless cars.
