I'm a Partner in H.I.E.C's Software & Technology Practice, providing organization-assessed and optimized executive searches (CEO, COO, CFO, VPs) across all asset classes and growth stages. I have over thirty years of experience working with growth-oriented technology companies as an operator, advisor, and investor. I've had four solid exits (WebLogic, Gauntlet Systems, Input Factory, Wavefront), and a bankruptcy (and plenty of disappointments in between). I advise companies on capital formation and strategy (equity and debt; entity points and stack), corporate strategy (SIP recognition and remediation), PMF (asymmetry reduction, VC/VSA/VC), product packaging, GTM strategy, commoditization avoidance, scaling (ceteris paribus vs complexity), executive hiring and operational planning (I've built dozens of Op Plans from scratch and reviewed hundreds of Op Plans).I'm an avid reader of great literature (Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Dickens, Shakespeare, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Hugo et al), a layman economist (Smith, Marshall, Coase, Veblen, Schumpeter, Hayek), and an enthusiastic bicyclist.
