The Office of Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) in Student Affairs selects faculty to apply their leadership skills in the coaching and development of undergraduate students who want to develop their own leadership potential. Coaching as a developmental tool is being adopted by more and more organizations because of its direct impact on leadership capacity. Georgia Tech has emphasized leadership in its current strategic plan, both as one of its enduring values as well as a key component in multiple goals, stating that “leadership development will be infused into the curriculum and culture” of the Institute. Fellows are professionally trained in coaching and leadership assessment instruments.

Leads a multi-disciplinary, joint team to research the interdisciplinary nature of enterprise transformation, and to identify and evaluate the best practices for accomplishing transformation and disseminate knowledge and those best practices . Established in 1951, DACOWITS is one of the oldest Department of Defense (DoD) Federal Advisory Committees. The Committee was created following the signing of the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act to assist with recruiting. Over the years, the DACOWITS charter has expanded, enabling the Committee to submit numerous recommendations to the Secretary of Defense. The majority of proposals have been either fully or partially implemented. DACOWITS is instrumental to the DoD and has made significant contributions on topics including the opening of closed positions to women; improvements to the health of deployed servicewomen; increased marketing, accession, and recruitment of women; and increased parental leave authorizations. Committee members serve as special government employee members, not as official representatives of any group or organization with which they may be affiliated. Members include prominent civilian women and men from academia, industry, public service and other professions. Selection is on the basis of experience in the military or with women-related workforce issues. Members are appointed for a 4-year term of service, serve without compensation, and perform a variety of duties, including visiting military installations annually, conducting a review and evaluation of current research on military women, and developing an annual report with recommendations on these issues for the Secretary of Defense.

Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army (CASA) are selected by Secretary of the Army.CASAs are a vital part of the Army, promoting good relations between the Army and the public and advising the Secretary about regional issues. Each state, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories have one or more CASAs appointed to provide a vital link between the Army and the communities for which they serve. CASAs are business or civic leaders who possess a keen interest in the welfare of the Army and their communities.

The Alumni Association is governed by a 45-member board of trustees. This includes nine members on the Executive Committee and 36 trustees on the board. Certain ex-officio positions include leadership from the Institute and the GT Foundation. Trustees are expected to attend quarterly meetings, serve actively on board initiatives and committees and further the mission of the Association.Trustees are elected on staggered three-year terms with 12 new members selected each year. Nominations begin in January. Nominees must be Tech alumni and have a significant record of supporting the Institute. The nominating committee of the board selects a slate of candidates from the nominations. Selections are made based on service to Georgia Tech and the Alumni Association, activities in communities and professions and philanthropy to Roll Call

Leadership Atlanta (Atlanta Leadership Development Foundation, Inc.) is the oldest continuously running training program of its type in the country. It was formed by a group of concerned citizens over four decades ago to address the growing need for a trained cadre of committed young leaders. The Atlanta Chamber of Commerce selected the first class in the summer of 1969 and in the spring of 1970, 46 leaders and future leaders of Atlanta graduated from the nine-month program. Among the class members were a future U.S. Senator, several corporate CEOs, judicial and civil rights leaders, and many committed business leaders and community volunteers.While much has changed over the years, the idea of selecting leaders for a rigorous, interactive curriculum to be engaged in all aspects of the Atlanta community remains the foundation on which forty-four successful Leadership Atlanta classes have been built. Since 1969, over 3,000 men and women, selected from Metro Atlanta counties and representing the diversity of our community, have completed this program and have taken their place as leaders in the community. There are now over 1,000 leadership development programs in the United States, many of which were modeled after Leadership Atlanta.The true impact of Leadership Atlanta is hard to measure. Many of Metro Atlanta’s most influential CEOs, educators, judges, elected officials, entrepreneurs, community organizers, non-profit leaders, and professionals are graduates of the program. Leadership Atlanta alumni hold key volunteer leadership roles throughout our community. Through its network of alumni, Leadership Atlanta has been an instrument of positive change. More than forty years after its founding, Leadership Atlanta adheres to the same principles and values that were established at its founding.

Commander/CEO of Fifth US Corps' engineer brigade, responsible for the leadership, training ($27 Million budget), morale and equipment maintenance( $200 Million) of over 1800 Soldiers. Provided combat engineer, construction, fixed bridging, float bridging, and geospatial engineering support to units throughout Germany. Served as Task Force Pershing Commander in support of Operations Joint Endeavor in Bosnia and Croatia. Responsible for providing retrograde redeployment operations to all units and maintaining assault float bridging support in the theater of operations and security of the Slavonski-Brod Bridge. Served as personal assistant to the Honorable Togo D. West Jr, SECARMY and CEO of the US Army. Responsible for travel planning and accompanying SECARMY to speaking engagements, Congressional meetings and hearings.

Responsible for the command, training, morale, and maintenance of equipment($27 Million) of the largest battalion ( 3 combat engineer companies, one headquarters company, and a chemical company), 716 personnel at Fort Ord and relocation of battalion to Fort Lewis Washington. Provided combat engineer support and Chemical Smoke and Decontamination support to units in 7th Infantry Division and the Brigade Combat Support Brigade. Winner of the Army's Supply Excellence and Maintenance Excellence Awards.
