Youth Connections champions youth employment in Auckland. We seek to improve connections between youth and employers. Using insights, data and experience, Youth Connections brings together stakeholders to create and drive an Auckland-wide agenda for youth employment. The focus is on promoting support to those youth furthest from the labour market to connect with employers and employment opportunities.We facilitate youth, employers, education providers, government and council organisations, and youth supporters through coordinating and supporting pilot activities and encouraging collaboration. We drive learning and innovation and strive to understand the impact of our activity across key groups, including Māori and Pasifika youth, within geographic areas and key industry sectors.The main function of the Evaluation and Insights Advisor is to develop and maintain the monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for Youth Connections. This includes managing programme data and leading the research plan and monitoring plan.The Evaluation and Insights Advisor leads the production of information on key youth employment issues, including an annual ‘State of Youth Employment’ report focused on NEET (not in employment, education or training) youth.The Evaluation and Insights Advisor contributes to building a clear evidence base to inform activity and through sharing lessons learnt supports the identification of best practice.In this role I was also the manager of 1 direct report as well as the project manager of 2 JobFest events. Finally, I led research on youth employment including a partnership with Massey University on vulnerable youth and resilience.
