I have learned that being a jack of all trades ultimately has great benefits! My career and life experiences have not followed a straight line, but each step has built upon the previous. My career began in the Accounting field where I oversaw budgets, weekly check runs, the preparation of financial statements and led a small team. I was awarded the Employee of the Year award in a mid-sized Engineering firm! I then became the team lead for the implementation of our company’s business enterprise system. An exciting role because I worked with people throughout the entire organization – from the warehouse to the C-Suite. I learned the importance of cross team collaboration and diplomacy. The ability to learn the entire business process and develop systems and processes utilized both my creative and analytical skills. I learned how to guide and coach people through change that often felt threatening to their jobs. I fully transitioned from being the Accounting lead to a consultant and Business Systems Analyst. While my professional career was flourishing, I formally answered a call to ministry. Ministry life taught me the art of listening and enhanced my public speaking skills. Through ministry and completing a Master of Arts in Christian Formation I learned adult learning skills and how to make theology and Christian tenets apply to the practical areas of life. Opening my own women’s fitness center was a means to have a positive impact on the life of people and ultimately led me to the nonprofit industry. As a business owner, I was given a Female Entrepreneur of the Year award.My career in the nonprofit industry is very fulfilling. I am able to be an innovative and strategic leader. I have the opportunity to lead a high performing team while coaching them to achieve key performance indicators and handle organizational culture change. I have found that the most effective way of leading teams is through transparency, support and engagement in making decisions. I am committed to community and volunteer engagement as that is the only way missions can be accomplished. I have been fortunate to serve on an advisory council as well as develop programs that have been shared throughout the nation. With a Master in Nonprofit Administration, I am primed to be a strong leader within an organization. My ambition is to grow in a leadership position allowing me to have a role in developing and executing organizational strategies and programs to positively impact the quality of life for individuals and the growth of team members.
