Richard worked as an IT Consultant for Megwich. He was assigned to many different companies, often working on-site on various projects. Depending on the type of project, Richard diversified his role and he would often be involved in Systems development. When the project required a design specialist, Richard was often assigned, due to his background in Information Systems design.Throughout his time at Megwich, Richard worked in different industries. His most recent project was to work in a team of professionals, designing and developing two high profile, public service projects for Transport for London. These two projects involved working with the London Underground Fire team and the Lost Property team. Both projects were managed by a FTSE 100, IT Consultancy.In October 2002, Richard was assigned to a start-up company specialising in vehicle tracking systems. Richard was put in charge of the technical team who developed tracking systems using GPS and GPRS logging to a Web based mapping tool. This tool, gave fleet managers a clear indication where their vehicles were and had been. It also reported on fuel use, mileage and employee abuse. A number of products were developed which used remote sensors on the vehicles to notify the fleet managers, when the truck doors had been opened, or the temperature of the vehicle whilst transporting frozen goods.

Having completed a BSc in Information Technology, Richard was given the task of implementing a workflow system, designed during his last year at university. This system saved 5000 faxes and 10000 telephone calls a year from marketing staff to the Mailing house. Records were entered onto the system by the marketing staff and depending on the status, were flagged up in the mailing house. The mailing house, would then print out the correct number of brochures, which were then sent out to potential delegates.Richard also managed a number of employees in the development team. Richard worked closely with the IT Director, planning and managing IT projects. Whilst planning for the Year 2000 compliance, Richard worked in the Dubai office, analysing their systems for upgrade.

Richard started as a junior programmer for this International oil company. He worked on workflow systems and Geotechnical database development.
