The primary responsibility of this position was to assess and promote environmental health on Tribal land through Indian Health Service. I independently planned, implemented and evaluated a comprehensive environmental health program on assigned reservations that emphasized safe water, solid and hazard waste management, food protection, occupational health and safety, vector control, community injury prevention, and institutional environmental health.

I conducted contact tracing, outbreak identification and mitigation in a temporary living facility housing unaccompanied minors who immigrated to the United States. Responsibilities included investigating outbreaks, providing education including donning and doffing procedures, assessing PPE breaches, infection prevention, and implementing other hands-on infection control procedures in a group living environment.

San Carlos, Arizona

The primary responsibility of this position was to assess and promote environmental health on Tribal land through Indian Health Service. I provide services and technical assistance to a Tribe in Eastern Arizona of approximately 13,500 community members. Projects included developing data collection and analysis to assist Rocky Mountain spotted fever prevention efforts, data analysis of injuries on the Reservation and development of corresponding fact sheets, and child passenger safety program development.

Completed the USPHS Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (JrCOSTEP). Assessed and promoted environmental health on Tribal land through Indian Health Service in northeast Oklahoma. Developed a HACCP plan to identify and address hazards in food preparation.

The Center focuses on reducing health risks among underserved populations throughout the state of Alabama and plays a leading role in the development of community-based participatory research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
