Since entering the education profession as a member of the Teach For America program in 2000, I have been fortunate to engage in a range of professional activities within the education sector that have developed both my skill set as well as my long-term aspirations.Throughout my career, I have felt privileged to play a leading role in establishing educational institutions designed to endure and thrive, ranging from a high-performing college preparatory charter school to a regional wing of an international education charity to guiding the turnaround of multiple schools across the nation's seventh largest public school system. In my current work as a senior-level system leader, I have a tremendous opportunity to share and apply these insights on a daily basis in order to improve academic outcomes and opportunities for students and educators across our district. In the long-term, I seek to continue this record of formulating effective educational solutions through broadening my impact on national education policy and practice.

Chief Academic OfficerDes Moines Public Schools May 2024 - PresentDes Moines, Iowa, United StatesDMPS is the largest school district in the state of Iowa, with 60 schools and about 30,000 students. The district serves the student populations to whom I've dedicated my entire career, with nearly 25% of its students being English language learners and 75% qualifying for free or reduced-fee meals based on their income. They live in the heart of an increasingly diverse city, and it will be my job to make sure that their schools are offering them the kinds of high-quality academic opportunities they deserve and will need to succeed in Iowa or beyond. -
