I currently work in Corporate Finance in the Capital Management Group. I work on ICAAP, a series of finance, capital management processes, and risk methodologies used to analyze credit risk, market risk, operational risk to help the company determine capital adequacy at the firm level.I recently worked on the C-CAR capital action plan that outlined Wells Fargo’s capital structure and actions based on perscribed scenarios described in the recent Federal Reserve November 2010 stress test. This stress test is being used to assess the top 19 BHC's ability to take capital actions (e.g. dividend increases, stock buybacks,...) in 2011. Economic Capital fits within the firm's framework to assess the company's capital position. This includes assessing the risk based capital associated with loans, securitizations, repos, derivatives, banking book, mortgage book, trading assets, and off balance sheet vehicles. I generate and present the quarterly Economic Capital results to executive management and the results are included in board level presentations and discussed as a part of the overall capital management of the bank. I also work with regulators during their supervisory reviews and present new risk methodologies for regulatory approval.

I worked in the Business Credit Card Group, managing the product, systems, and processes for Wells Fargo's 6500 branches, the largest sales channel for the product. My job focused on ensuring that systems, sales processes, and credit decisioning processes were operating efficiently and also aligned with legal and compliance requirements.I managed a team of diverse members that spanned originations, risk management, customer services, compliance, enterrprise systems, and product management. Through my work, I reduced the application fall out rate, cleaned up documentation on existing processes, addressed open compliance issues, closed loopholes in our risk management processes while fostering good cohesiveness across divisions.

Merchant Checking is a combined merchant services offering with a checking account sold by Wells Fargo bankers in branches. I managed the pilot project, implemented sales process, authored product requirements, developed and integrated an automated credit risk screening process, and managed the systems development process. During the pilot phase, I trained 100's of bankers to sell the product, gathered data, built a business case, and launched the product. In addition, I developed sales compensation strategies, product pricing strategies, and developed a streamlined customer contract. Merchant Checking was the recipient of 2007 Barlow Research New Product Innovation Award in Banking.
Founder of Equbits, a Machine Learning software company that utilized Support Vector Machines for computational chemists used to predict useful compounds in ADMET screening. Sold to Hedge Fund in 2008.
Equbits was a software company that I founded that sold desktop based predictive modelilng software that utilized Support Vector Machines (SVM's) for classification and regression. Equbits provided accurate interpretable software to computational chemists in pharmaceutical companies to assist them in predicting the best molecules to select for experimental testing. By more accurately predicting the best molecules, pharmaceutical companies save time and money by modeling the interactions between potential drugs and the human body instead of running time intensive experiments. Run as a part time venture, the company was self funded, received SBIR Phase I Grant from the National Science Foundation and had 7 out of the top 10 pharmaceutical firms as customers, and strong OEM relationships with Systat and SPSS. I defined the product, called on potential customers, sold the product, met with customers, completed installations, and spoke at industry conferences. The company sold a desktop version and an enterprise version of the product. The company was sold in 2007 to a hedge fund.

I developed pilot plant processes for the process development organization. During this period, I worked on HIVgp120 (HIV vaccine) and a number of clinical phase products. I developed methodologies used to optimize bioreactor design. I moved from the therapeutics division to the diagnostic division and worked as molecular biologist. I worked in protein expression in E. coli, Yeast, and baculovirus used in the HAV (Hepatitis A), HIV, and HBV immunodiagnostic test kits. After 6 years in biopharmaceutical research, I wanted to understand how a business really ran and decided to seek out an appropriate position.
Arris Pharmaecueticals worked on developing small molecules for EPO and hGH. As a part of the company's partnerships with Pharmacia and Amgen, I worked on producing and purifying enough EPO receptor for crystallization studies. I developed an ELISA to monitor production of EPO-receptor in mammalian cells. I also increased protein production 100 fold and worked on expressing the EPO-r in a novel cell yeast cell line. I worked with our research partners to trouble shoot development and coordinate on timelines and project plans. Arris went public in 1993.
