Ryan Manis Work Experience Details
  • Intel Corporation
    Process Engineer
Intel Corporation May 2014 - Present
    Santa Clara, California, Us
Focused in Dry Etch processing for silicon manufacturing. Work with integrated teams across modules to help drive process improvement toward desired yield, resistance/capacitance, and cost targets.
  • Arizona State University
    Graduate Researcher
Arizona State University Aug 2010 - May 2014
    Tempe, Az, Us
-Designed and performed experiments to study human fingertip responses during activities of daily living to characterize grasp forces, angles, speeds in order to help build and better control human-like robotic prosthetic hands.-Utilized SolidWorks CAD software and Vicon motion capture in design and data collection. Extensive Matlab coding and detailed statistical analyses were used in post processing. -This culminated in a journal paper submission. -I studied with a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
  • Naval Postgraduate School
    Research Intern
Naval Postgraduate School May 2010 - Aug 2010
-Assisted work on a High Energy Laser testbed which accounted for vibration and other disturbances.-Developed a display using a Position Sensing Detector that would show a LabView plot of where a laser beam was located in relation to a desired point using a Beam Splitter and High Powered Telescope.
  • Biomechatronics Lab At Asu
    Research Intern
Biomechatronics Lab At Asu May 2009 - May 2010
-Assisted on human subject experiments to get digit reflex data on rotational perturbations.-Helped post-process the data from the Vicon motion capture cameras.-Using LabView and Matlab, designed a randomized rotational perturbation motor controlled system for human subject experiments.
  • Great American Merchandise And Events
    Product Design Intern
Great American Merchandise And Events Oct 2008 - Nov 2009
-Created SolidWorks models of inventor-submitted ideas and drawings of pool supplies and toys to verify the idea was possible and to send to manufacturers abroad. -Developed computer drawings and user manuals for pool supplies, specifically a water heater, pump, and a sensor based remote water testing device. -Developed Quality Assurance guidelines working with manufacturing companies in China.-Tested and assisted redesign of products for greater ease of use and sensor accuracy.
  • Human Machine Integration Laboratory
    Research Intern
Human Machine Integration Laboratory Jan 2008 - Jun 2009
-Assisted work on developing a robotic prosthetic ankle using springs and a motor for a below-the-knee amputee. -Built a prototype with updated and new designs, integrating newly created and machined parts with the old motor system.
  • Northwest Special Recreation Association
    Counselor
Northwest Special Recreation Association Apr 2007 - Aug 2008
    - Worked with the mentally and physically disabled and helped them learn how to complete useful and necessary tasks. - Increased my understanding of the needs of the physically disabled, allowing me to more fully understand the needs of prosthetics.
  • Argonne National Laboratory
    Research Intern
Argonne National Laboratory Apr 2006 - Aug 2006
    Lemont, Il, Us
-Worked on Environmental Protection Agency and Homeland Security counter-terrorism research documents.-Researched provisional advisory levels for the amount of specific chemicals that could exist in a water supply before hitting specific harm levels during a terrorist attack.
