Implemented software in Python to fetch the current and upcoming dance genres from iTunes and display them on a projector. First working version was delivered in 1 week, including research on the iTunes ScriptingBridge interface. Delivered additional enhancements over the rest of the month.

TA for the Digital Systems Design Techniques and graduate Computer Architecture courses. Helped prepare assignments, proctor exams, and grade assignments. Also held office hours and discussion sections for students to ask questions with a couple mini-lectures to introduce content.

Computer security research on the security of aircraft communication. Helped extract and reverse engineer the firmware (using IDA Pro) from a CMU used in airplanes, and wrote code for a patch to the firmware of an ARM-based Mobile Cockpit Information System.

Research in Microelectronics Embedded Systems Lab to improve energy efficiency of buildings. Revised existing PCB layouts using Altium and developed new designs for an energy meter, occupancy sensor, and a modular wireless ZigBee radio board. Helped deploy sensors and gather data. Placed manufacturing orders for circuit boards and ordered components to populate the boards for a deployment of 100 occupancy sensors.

Assembled and soldered maximum power point trackers for the solar car’s battery packs, assisted in building a mock-up of a roll cage, and designed and built shelving for storing sheets of plywood and carbon fiber on a team of about 5 people.

Co-directed the development of an open source MMORPG, ran the discussion forums, and helped manage contributions (code, graphics, etc) by about 10 developers and frequent contributors. Contributed to implementation and debugging of networking, graphics, and MySQL backend of the client and server in Java. Created a proof-of-concept website design providing features that interfaced with the game using HTML and PHP.

Worked on a 5-person team to build a maze-solving robot for the iARoC competition. Designed a mounting system for ultrasonic and IR rangefinders on the iRobot Create platform, and programmed parts of the maze solving algorithm.

Designed two robots for the FIRST Robotics Competition in Autodesk Inventor to ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems fit together. Aided the electrical team with wiring and other miscellaneous electrical work, including debugging systems. Learned about safety and worked in a machine shop with tools such as mills, lathes, saws, and a MIG welder.
