Our mission at the IRCT - to ensure recovery from childhood trauma is available for all children and young people.

Initially supported a recovery process and then change management across Operational areas (Fostering, residential and Education) and oversaw all operational areas. I then focused on being Head of residential, therapeutic delivery and Proprietor for Five Rivers schools.

London, United Kingdom

I initially acted as a consultant to support the change management of the acting CEO retiring after some 40years of strategically directing the organisation. A key focus was the development of Therapeutic communities for adults and young people in London UK (Many who had experienced trauma). I opened residential services for adults with Personality disorders and enduring mental health issues to allow for discharge from hospital (London Primary Care). I also pioneered the opening of residential care services for children and young people for the organisation. A key focus was on the quality of care and outcomes

Manchester, United Kingdom

I provided clinical oversight (assessment and therapy) for children / young people and their families. I also assisted the organisation to attain growth through successfully opening a new region. I was also a member of the SMT who successfully attained all targets set in the ambitious strategic plan.

Scotland

Senior manager responsible for 13 homes and then opening 7 new services. I helped this organisation pioneer integrated care (residential, education and fostering) and began my thinking around effective transitional programmes from intensive residential care to foster care. I also implemented a therapeutic care model (The Sanactuary Model - Dr Sandra Bloom) throughout the organisation following spending time at The Andrus Centre, Yonkers, New York. To implement the first trauma informed model in UK.

Hmp Dovegate

Managed a 40 bed prison based Therapeutic Community for adult males many of whom had been convicted for offences of a violent nature (life sentenced). Responsible for managing of the service and line management of all staff, plus overseeing all therapeutic components e.g. supervision of psychologists and prison staff, completion of assessment reports for Lifer review boards etc.

New Zealand

Based at Mangaroa Regional Prison where I facilitated a therapeutic programme for high risk young people and developed a new approach called The advanced EQUIP which was integrated within Correction Youth Units. I also consulted with Te Piriti Special treatment unit in Auckland on the development of a programme for adult offenders.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

I worked for the Scottish Prision Service for 11 years and focused on the development of programmes (e.g. Piloted and developed ASOTP) for young people who had committed violent offences and providing staff support. I was a suicide risk management co-ordinator and a member of the critical incident debrief team. I received the Queens Jubilee Medal for public service and various commendations for my involvement in successful conclusion to critical incidents e.g. significant incidents of disturbance.

Various locations: Hong Kong, South Georgia, Falklands etc Awarded medals for service in conflict zones. Final role was onboard The Argus, Operation Desert Storm,
