I combine an engineer’s understanding of dynamical systems with the practical perspective on physiology that I obtained as a combat medic with the 82nd Airborne Division. Since ending my term of service I have performed roles ranging in scope from project engineer to principal investigator. My research interests are in the analysis and design of complex, nonlinear dynamical systems, both biological and mechanical.Although I no longer wear a uniform, my two basic responsibilities remain uppermost in my mind – accomplishment of my mission and the welfare of my soldiers. As a civilian engineer, my soldiers are all those who stand in defense of our nation and my mission is to contribute to technologies that enhance their health and welfare. I have a particular interest in defense, but I am passionate about any project with the potential to improve people's lives.
