During the Planning phase, responsible for all supplier commercial interaction including input to commercial sponsorship opportunities. Established a procurement function with supporting governance and controls. Implemented a P2P system, Sustainability and D&I protocols which overall helped to facilitate the delivery of £1.2bn of successful contracts covering a diverse range of goods and services. Within the Insyte division of BAESYSTEMS responsible for leading a team of 85 people in a matrix organisation. Operational and policy responsibility for the sourcing, selection, and performance/risk management of the company’s complex supply chains with an annual spend of £230M across many countries. Led the introduction of SRM delivering improvements in the performance and quality deliverables of a number of critical suppliers which enabled the company to demonstrate to its key customer a level of performance resulting in new profitable contracts being awarded. Ensured that effective contracting models, from competition through partnering, were successfully negotiated and deployed.Forged the implementation of SAP, supplier performance and relationship toolsets together with other continuous improvement techniques. Membership of BAE Systems Procurement Council and sponsorship of the business wide “People in Procurement” initiative which developed and diversified people entering procurement.
