Claytex provided a new opportunity for me to apply my learning at AVL directly to optimising the application of another simulator for AV development. My role was to interpret customer requirements and develop prospective systems for potential use. This included vehicle control models, simulation interfaces and user configurable physics based sensor models. From my research I published several blogs exploring the architecture of Autonomous Vehicles including simulation control and automated testing methodologies. I also wrote blogs on analysing test performance using test metrics such as the map sensor and lidar weather blogs. I worked on two government funded R&D projects DRisk and SavAir, ensuring targets were met each quarter and further developing Claytex products. I was given the responsibility of being the primary author of a final project report for a new adaptive test manager.

Working as an ADAS Research Engineer I supported development of the AVL Highway Pilot which was the first vehicle to embark on a UK wide level 3 ADAS trial that travelled more than a thousand miles of open roads throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As part of development I supported software testing in the loop using IPG Carmaker, vehicle testing at the WMG 3xD simulator and real world trials.As the lead simulation engineer on another government R&D consortium project for smart ADAS verification and validation (SAVVY) I created and ran test automation on a number of structured test cases. With partners of the project I also assisted in running safety critical test cases using a development method called STPA. I worked on multiple customer projects including creating use cases and analysing potential ADAS behaviour of several weeks of driving footage from India. I tested development vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover analysing vehicle behaviour during test cases.I lead simulation for the Smart ADAS Verification and Validation Methodology (SAVVY) project. This is a five strong consortium project jointly funded with Innovate UK and the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (C-CAV).https://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=103285In this role i gained an understanding of the cutting edge methodologies for verifying and validating software models for vehicle autonomy including the different system and simulation tools used.
