Developing mainframe monitoring applicationsAs one of only two developers on staff, designed, developed, and tested a high performance web based application providing customers with both a real time and historical views of mainframe operations. Solely responsible for database and XML schema design, subsequent Java code generation, and overall system architecture. Responsible for leveraging numerous 3rd party and opensource projects including Tomcat 6 for Comet support, Netty for asynchronous I/O, Spring for dependency injection and AOP, Hibernate and C3P0 as ORM tool and database connection pool, and Derby for database implementation. Providing ongoing maintenance and support as well as new feature additions to this product.Providing maintenance, feature enhancements, and support for a legacy web application built on Servlets, JSPs, and Java applets. Primary role is to diagnose and fix customer impacting bugs in a mature product while operating under the unique constraints of the z/OS environment where CPU consumption is a critical concern. Additionally responsible for profiling, targeting, and refactoring existing code for CPU and memory optimization purposes.

Team Lead and Software Architect of the IP Messaging Web Provisioning Group, which developed a Servlet-based GUI and SOAP API for management of the Unified Messaging platform. This GUI leveraged the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) an AJAX framework, and the opensource SOAP project XFire/CXF while serving as the front-end for an LDAP database. Led the team through entire development lifecycle: establishing requirements, writing and reviewing design specifications, coding, unit/integration testing, deployment, and support once deployed. Additional responsibilities as Team Lead included tasking team members, coordinating and managing schedules, and facilitating design discussions.Principle Engineer responsible for development of a stand-alone, Swing application providing the customer with a means of migration from a legacy, messaging platform. The migration tool provides a means to import configurations from a customer-authored data file, download critical elements from the legacy platform, verify data integrity, and upload the entire configuration and accompanying data files to the nextGen platform. This multi-threaded application utilizes different APIs and leverages the third-party, graphing library jGraph to provide a visual representation of the configuration schema. The tool was a critical migration element for the customer, one without which, acceptance would not have be achieved.Technical Lead responsible for development and maintenance of the Common Element Manager (CEM) for the VoIP/ High Density VoIP (HDV), Remote Access Services, and Universal Port projects. CEM is a Java SNMP element manager utilizing the Java RMI client-server architecture and backed by a SQL database.
