Adjunct Faculty
Public health survey course introducing students to the interdisciplinary field of public health. Social behavioral health, epidemiology, environmental health, and biostats are reviewed with an orientation towards health equity and social justice. Focus on developing constructive and evaluative criteria for examining socio-cultural, historic, and preeminent public health issues. (~50 students per semester, taught in person, online, and hybrid formats during COVID-19) Methods focus: Integrated a mixed method approach to include qualitative research methods into course content to deepen understanding of socio-cultural determinants of health. Methods such as photovoice and other qualitative data collections are considered to triangulate needs and assets for communities facing disproportionate burden from social determinants of health.
