With a strong commitment to food justice, inclusion, and equity, combined with a deep passion for gardening and community building, Ro joined the Urban Harvest STL team in 2020. Prior to joining Urban Harvest, they had the honor of serving as Youth Program Manager for NCCJ St. Louis, leading programs such as the Anytown Youth Leadership Institute, and working with young people to build awareness, leadership skills, and the motivation to serve as agents for change in their schools and communities. While doing inclusion and equity work in a professional sphere, they also felt quite drawn to the soil, to growing and donating food to address food insecurity, and to connecting with the community through urban agriculture. They founded and continue to run the Feed the People Garden Project in 2017. With the help of community volunteers, two adorable garden pups, and some beautiful compost, they have partnered with organizations such the Potbangerz and the Metro Trans Umbrella Group to bring fresh food to those in the community who often need it most. After completing the EarthDance Apprenticeship Program, Ro enthusiastically applied to join the Urban Harvest team, looking forward to the opportunity to bring so much of what they have worked on in various branches of their lives and meld it together into one cohesive new position. They look forward to bringing their contributions to support the mission and vision of Urban Harvest STL as well as upholding the values at RUNG for Women, working in collaboration as a co-designer.
