- Provide individual bedside art therapy and counseling sessions on inpatient units to patients of varying medical and psychiatric diagnoses utilising trauma-informed care, humanistic, holistic, and strength-based approaches - Offer patients creative, individualized, and adaptive tools to cope with hospitalization, work through and process trauma in a safe environment, and express themselves in creative ways that allow for the exploration of themselves and the world around them - Educated and appropriate utilization of traditional and nontraditional art materials to facilitate the creative process, adaptable art making in respect to ability/age/ disability, traditional verbal/talk therapy, play, psychoeducation, and therapeutic relationship building- Work included: isolation, changes in condition, bereavement, end of life care, memory and legacy making, patient and family centered care, trauma and crisis interventions, gender and identity exploration, relaxation and stress relief, and psychiatric/behavioral health needs such as suicidal ideation, eating disorders, PTSD and continuous trauma, depression, anxiety, aggression, personality disorders, mood disorders, and more. - Develop and uphold patient advocacy initiatives, including gender affirming projects, services and education to staff and families - Provide assessments and diagnosis, develop treatment plan, document patient progress and sessions - Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to provide optimal patient and family care and psychosocial support - Continue to build and develop creative arts therapies in hospital, including working with music therapists, local artists and outside collaborations through outreach and community projects
