New York City-born and Rhode Island native Roan-William D. Iribarren, or simply Roan Iribarren, has always been drawn to the intersection of politics and community leadership. With a foundation in competitive sailing honed in Newport and on Aquidneck Island, Roan has navigated his academic and professional journey with a keen sense of purpose and commitment to making a difference.Currently a Senior at Salve Regina University, Roan is majoring in Political Science & International Relations while minoring in Criminal Justice & Criminology. Alongside his academic pursuits, Roan is a sailor on the university's Division 1 Sailing Team, where he exemplifies dedication, teamwork, and leadership on the water.Roan's passion for politics is evident in his roles within the Salve Regina community. Serving his second term as President of the Salve Regina Young Republicans as a Libertarian, Roan has revitalized the club, fostering connections with political figures at all levels of government. Starting as treasurer and then as Vice President, Roan's leadership has been instrumental in reshaping the club's impact in Rhode Island's political landscape.Roan's political journey began as a Legislative Intern for the Rhode Island House of Representatives, where he worked alongside legislators to analyze policy issues, observe active debate, and provide valuable insights. Recognized for his exemplary work with citations from both the House and Senate, Roan is looking forward to further serving the State in the future.Beyond the political arena, Roan is a committed civic leader, currently serving as a Commissioner on the Newport Beach Commission. In this role, he has spearheaded critical projects such as the Easton's Beach Seawall Project, collaborating with various stakeholders to protect vital city infrastructure. Roan's ability to navigate complex challenges and foster collaboration has become relevant within the community and among his peers.Roan draws inspiration from his late father, Jaime Iribarren, a Chilean immigrant and a renowned advertiser for the Mediterranean Shipping Company in New York City.
