Battlecraft: an educational math game for 5th graders. #STEMEver since I completed this project in Oct, 2022, it has been in use by students at Starbase Edwards.Given a codebase written by 2 different programmers, I began with testing, finding and fixing several bugs, commenting, and refactoring code.During multiple zoom meetings with a director / teacher / project manager and a technical liaison, I listened carefully to their requests and ideas and I also suggested and helped design new features. We iteratively improved the design (UI, look, flow) of the game. During the first meeting, we discussed the scope of the project, so that it could be completed in a reasonable time frame. Some changes I made:Programmed intel hints for the player and introduction to the game.Coded the dialog system.Improved usability on mobile devices.Improved the game board generation.Implemented different difficulty levels.Added end of game code and restarting game code.Modified artwork and created UI related artwork.Made simple animations.Lots of debugging and bug fixing.Made code more efficient.Wrote automated tests using PyAutoGUI.Tested on various browsers and screen sizes on laptop and mobile devices. This project was coded using Construct 3 game engine and JavaScript.
