AUCKLAND TRANSPORT, 20 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, Auckland 1010 New Zealand August 23,2023 – Present My role and responsibilities as Senior Database Administrator include:Data Management • Provide specialist advice and support on Data Management to the organisation.• Take a lead in the implementation and data conversion for new systems and provide the Analytic Infra & Ops Manager technical information, on projects as required, working with Business Analysts and end users where required. • Undertake installation, configuration and administration of new and existing MS SQL & Vertica database environments following change management and change control procedures as documented within Auckland Transport• Manage, maintain and troubleshoot all MS SQL and Vertica database environments within Auckland Transport including production, preproduction, test and development environments.• Install and configure SQL Cluster, SQL Always On in both on-premises and Azure.• Manage, maintain and trouble shoot Azure SQL PaaS and IaaS database environments.• Familiarity working in Azure Analytical platform e.g. Data Bricks, Data Lake, Data Factory, Apache Spark etc.• Respond to and resolve service requests for database access and performance issues and manage escalations to support vendors.Database Development• Provide specialist advice and support to the organisation regarding database development options• Apply structured analysis, design, development, documentation and testing methodologies• Product Road Map – contribute to the direction & planning of Transports core systems and assist with the evaluation of new work requests, and impact analysis of changes.• Play an active role in the development, training and mentoring of these development methodologies to more junior team members• Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
