Rob established Auditrail in 1989 to manage some general consulting roles that he was requested to perform. These included some major projects for Roger David Pty Ltd (loss prevention) Cleland Transport (discuss) Ray's Tent City (discuss) and a number of other engagements.Once DMS was sold, Rob was 'head hunted' by a company - Fleet Effect Pty Ltd, who had/have embarked upon some major projects in the compliance sector of the transport industry, for example 'fatigue management' Once Rob was on board, he was immediately installed as the Business Risk Director - and for a long period provided significant value across the entire business, including liaison with Government departments across Australia. Due to the economic downturn and the factors surrounding Government decisions, the projects are now on 'hold' - and have been for some time.People ManagementDuring Rob's career he has been directly responsible for large numbers of staff/associates/professionals:-As Officer In Charge of the RACV inquiry - 8 police, 3 accountants, 3 lawyers and a barrister;; at times, every detective in the State; As the Director - CAD (6 years) 5 police, 2 public servants, 2-3 members from each of the other Emergency Services. During the implementation phase this grew to almost 100 people including technical experts, consultants and associated personnel; As the MD of DMS- up to 210 staff members in NSW and Victoria. In the security and cleaning industry, DMS had an attrition rate of less than 3% under his leadership.

Jan 2009 - Present

Director

Dependable Management Services Pty Ltd

DMS)In 1979, Rob established a Security Company (with Vicpol permission) which provided security at Greensborough Shopping Centre. Whilst acquiring a number of other contracts that enjoyed longevity, the 'flagship' at Greensborough had 29 years of continuous contract to Lend Lease - a world record for that company for one continuous provider! In 1995/6 Lend Lease asked Rob and his two co-owners to establish an FM company which included security, cleaning, information desk, maintenance and management of sub-contractors. Once established, the company grew to 7 major sites, all of which enjoyed contract renewal until the business was sold in February 2007. The previous and current CEO's of Lend Lease and GPT will confirm that DMS was an outstanding provider. Rob's role in the company was as the MD and looking after contract/risk/business management, quality and all training. Rob also managed the PLI and contract/tender negotiations and presentations. DMS had an 85% successful tender strike rate under his leadership - unheard of in the industry!During this time, Rob also initiated and supervised the software known as ORM (On Line Risk Management Pty Ltd) See www.orm.net.au.

Jan 2001 - Jan 2007

Consultant

Rob took early retirement from Victoria Police to assume the role of Liaison Manager for Intergraph which was the technology company that won the bid to install the new communications software. In his first year he also assumed the role of Training Director which involved developing a new strategy to expedite training across all the deciplines. His role was to liaise between Government, the emergency service agencies and the media in critical matters. It is unfortunate that Intergraph received some poor publicity during this time, all of which was politically inspired. The simple fact is that it was and is still (still in operation today) the most efficient CAD system in the World. Rob's responsibilities included monitoring and managing every Coronial inquiry. During his four years, his client did not receive even a 1% contribution to any person's death. His professionalism, investigation and mediation skills were widely acknowledged throughout the services and the Government agencies. For 12 months during this period, Rob was in charge of the Victoria Police Communications Centre with more than 120 staff, and a mission critical 24/7 responsibility to the State. Rob left to assume control his own company which had been operating for some time and was in a significant growth stage.

He was/is known as one of Victoria's leading detectives and was often called upon to manage the most complicated and/or delicate investigations (viz a viz Derryn Hinch). Rob successfully headed up the investigation known as the RACV Fraud which was the largest Insurance Fraud in Australia's history. Some of Rob's projects include:Project Director - TRIM Rob was the Project director for the TRIM Project (Tape Recording in Indictable Matters) This involved an enormous change project for the Victoria Police where he directed, managed and implemented the change from typed interviews to tape/video recorded interviews. TProject Director - CADRob was the Project Director/Coordinator for all Victorian Emergency Services to build the new communications facilities at the World Trade Centre and Tally Ho, de-commission existing sites and implement the new communications (Computer Aided Dispatch) systems. This included managing 128 mission critical interfaces and a $36m budget and 6 years planning. It also involved education and training programs on a force-wide basis. Rob was also the cut-over controller which involved de-commissioning D.24, testing and verifying the new State communications system. Rob also developed and implemented the Business Continuity Plans (Communications) for Victoria and New Zealand Emergency Services.United NationsRob was selected to be seconded to the UN during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, where for 12 months he operated as a political liaison officer.
