I joined Opta in 1998 and have been playing about with football data ever since, trying to come up with interesting stories, facts and ways to use data, as well as trying to help clients get the maximum out of our data and products.I co-created the award winning OptaJoe account on Twitter, coming up with the unique style which has made it so popular and helped the media move from a place where data was barely seen or understood on mainstream coverage to a place where it is now integral to sports coverage. I've also been heavily involved in the introduction and seeding of new metrics and visualisations to try to bring data to ordinary fans in simple and effective ways to offer insight into team and player performance.The Opta Data Editorial team has grown from one person to 120+ spread across 22 countries and covering a dozen different sports and I've managed that growth and spread.
